Knapamerki

The Knapamerki System is a framework of advancing levels  that were developed by the prestigious Holar University in Iceland as a way to systematically build the theoretical and practical knowledge of Icelandic horse riders.

The program was created to be accessible and useful to all types of riders, whether the rider is interested in sport competition or simply enjoying the company of their Icelandic horse on the trails.

The Knapamerki System has five sequential levels, each with a corresponding competency exam.

At Merrimack Valley Icelandics I incorporate Knapamerki teaching into lessons and also offer clinics to prep riders interested in becoming certified in the Knapamerki levels.
